We are proud to announce that the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar has become an official partner of the HerzegovinaBike Association for 2025, ensuring strong support for the development and promotion of cycling tourism in the City of Mostar.
During a recent meeting, the president of the HerzegovinaBike Association, Toni ZorićToni Zorić, met with the director of the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, Elvira Dilberović, and project coordinator, Nikica Čerkez. On this occasion, Zorić presented ambitious plans for 2025, emphasizing the mapping of new thematic cycling routes in the Mostar area and their detailed presentation on online platforms. Additionally, discussions were held about organizing promotional events and strengthening cooperation with international tourism agencies to position Mostar’s and Herzegovina’s cycling tourism offerings more effectively on the global market.
The HerzegovinaBike Association already offers detailed maps and descriptions of over 2,200 kilometers of cycling routes on its website, enriched with photos and useful information. However, in 2025, the Association plans to expand its offering with new thematic routes around Mostar. These routes will not be just ordinary cycling paths – each will tell its own story, inviting tourists to explore Mostar and its surrounding areas, enjoy the natural beauty, and spend more time in this stunning part of Herzegovina.
Director of the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, Elvira Dilberović, highlighted the importance of cycling tourism for the region’s tourism development: "The Tourist Board of the City of Mostar recognizes cycling tourism as one of the key niche tourism forms that contributes to the diversification of our tourism offerings. We strongly support the work of HerzegovinaBike, which, through its activities like promoting and mapping new trails, significantly contributes to positioning the City of Mostar and Herzegovina as an attractive destination for active holiday enthusiasts."
This statement further underscores the shared goal of enhancing cycling tourism and strengthening the synergy between local institutions and the HerzegovinaBike Association. It was agreed that the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar will feature cycling tourism offerings on its website and link to the HerzegovinaBike website. In addition to digital promotion, the collaboration will include creating printed maps available in hotels and distributed at tourism fairs, making it easier for tourists to explore cycling opportunities in Herzegovina.
One of the key projects presented by Toni Zorić is an innovative “Navigation Package” system developed in collaboration with popular apps like Komoot and Ride with GPS. These packages offer tourists comprehensive logistical support – from GPX files for Garmin devices and printable maps with marked destinations and detailed descriptions to links to the HerzegovinaBike website for additional information. The packages also include QR codes leading to digital maps with voice navigation via mobile devices and contact with HerzegovinaBike agents available to assist during their visit. Inspired by best practices from top tourism destinations, this system is designed to provide tourists with a safe, organized, and unforgettable cycling experience.
In the coming days, a meeting is planned with the Tourist Board of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton to discuss expanding cycling tourism promotion across the canton. A particular focus will be on joint participation in tourism fairs to position Bosnia and Herzegovina as an attractive cycling tourism destination.
It’s worth noting that a meeting with Herzegovina’s cycling clubs will be held in early February at the HerzegovinaBike Visitor Center in Buna. During this meeting, a 2025 event calendar will be created, and key steps for further development of cycling, both as a sport and a tourism offering, will be defined. This coordinated approach aims to achieve even better results and elevate Herzegovina’s cycling tourism offerings to a higher level.
The partnership between the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar and the HerzegovinaBike Association brings numerous exciting opportunities for the development of cycling tourism and for promoting Mostar as a must-visit destination for all lovers of active holidays.
