Sultan Ahmed – Emperor's Mosque is a significant cultural and religious building located in the Old Town of Trebinje, near the right bank of the Trebišnjica River. The mosque was built by Osman Pasha Resulbegović on behalf of Sultan Ahmed III, which is why it was named the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, but it is also known as Emperor's Mosque.
According to historical documents from the Dubrovnik archives, the construction of this mosque began in 1719. Dubrovnik craftsmen were hired for the construction, who used quality cut stone, and a special feature of this mosque is its hipped roof covered with tiles, which makes it recognizable among other religious buildings.
The Emperor's Mosque is not only a religious center, but also an architectural gem, testifying to the connection of different cultural and religious influences in this part of the Balkans. With its simple yet elegant exterior, the mosque reflects characteristic Ottoman architectural styles, while its location along the Trebišnjica River adds a special charm and atmosphere. This mosque is one of the significant places in Trebinje and an unmissable destination for anyone who wants to experience the rich cultural heritage of this city.
