Cycling route "Golden Triangle Cycling Trail" takes you through a unique blend of history, tradition, and natural beauty in western Herzegovina. The journey begins in Grude, where we head towards Dragićina and Donji Mamići, following peaceful rural roads that lead us into the heart of the Herzegovinian landscape.

Spanning a total of 34.9 kilometers, the route connects the villages of Višnjica, Mamići, and Grljevići, forming the symbolic "golden triangle." These areas are known for the cultivation of "ravnjak" tobacco, which carries a protected geographical origin label. This specific tobacco variety has deep roots in the region’s history, serving as a key product that has shaped the identity of western Herzegovina over the centuries.

From Grljevići, we continue along paved roads towards Borajna, Klobuk, and Ružići, passing by panoramic views and picturesque landscapes. The ride ends with a return to Grude, the starting point, completing this unforgettable cycling adventure.

This route is perfect for recreational cyclists, offering an easy to moderate challenge and an opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of Herzegovina.

RECOMMENDATION

Although the trail mostly takes us through populated areas and you drive on an asphalt section, we also come across a macadam section of the trail, while we always think that on longer rides it is necessary to bring a mini tool and a tool for patching inner tires, so the rule also applies to this section. We definitely recommend that you inform your family or friends about your cycling plans before going for a ride.

ABOUT THE CYCLING RURAL PROJECT

Golden Triangle Cycling Trail, biciklistička je staza koja je razvijena i sprovedena u okviru projekta Cycling Rural – Biciklističke rute za unapređenje prirodne i kulturne baštine Hercegovine i Crne Gore. Projekt “Biciklističke rute za unapređenje prirodne i kulturne baštine Hercegovine i Crne Gore”, provodi se u okviru Programa prekogranične suradnje Bosna i Hercegovina – Crna Gora, koji financira Europska unija. Projekt je službeno započeo 1. listopada 2019. godine, a provedba će trajati 18 mjeseci. Ukupna vrijednost projekta iznosi 495.000,00 eura, od čega Europska unija financira 400.000,00 eura. Partneri na projektu su Ured Vlade Županije Zapadnohercegovačke za europske integracije kao nositelj projekta, Grad Široki Brijeg, Grad Ljubuški, Općina Posušje, Općina Grude i Turistička organizacija Herceg Novi. Europska unija financira ovaj projekt s ciljem jačanja i diversifikacije kvalitete turističke ponude, kao i razvoja biciklističke i turističke ponude na otvorenom u ruralnim područjima prekograničnih regija Crne Gore i Bosne i Hercegovine. Projekt će rezultirati stvaranjem nove i atraktivne ponude pod brendom “Cycling Rural” koja će postati dio ukupne turističke ponude obje zemlje, kao i turističke ponude Jadranskog zaleđa.
