Another, according to the participants' statements, a perfect Ćiro event was organized on Sunday, April 14, 2024, when more than 250 participants of the Ćiro bike ride from Mostar to Počitel gathered in front of the Croatian Home of Herceg Stjepan Kosač.
The bike ride follows the route where Ćiro traveled in the past on the section from Mostar to Čapljina, with the addition of a visit to Blagaj.
„Našim gostima koji su ovog vikenda pohrlili u Mostar iz cijele regije predstavili smo Mostar, biciklirali pokraj Starog mosta, UNESCO-va svjetskoj baštini koji je, kada je izgrađen, bio je najveća lučna konstrukcija na svijetu. Nakon toga biciklijada se nastavila prema naselju Blagaj, gdje se nalazi izvor Bune, koji je najveći krški izvor u Europi (Vrelo Bune), prošli smo pokraj manastira Žitomislići gdje smo imali i jednu malu okrijepnu zonu, te smo posjetili Čapljinu i stari grad Počitelj. Biciklijada se završila u restoranu Storia gdje smo pripremili obroke za sve sudionike događaja", commented Toni Zorićpresident of the HerzegovinaBike association.
„And that is the best thing about these cycle tourism events, which bring together whole families, children and parents, people of all age categories, who enjoy an active weekend, socializing outdoors while at the same time getting to know the country as a destination, all its tourist potential, natural resources, connecting homemade food and tasting of local specialties. On top of that, you have an organic reach on social networks where 250 people will share pictures from Herzegovina, promote our country and write how they had a great time and recommend a visit. This is exactly what we want when we present a touristic destination. There is nothing better than that", Zorić added.
It should be noted that last year this cycling event recorded a record number of 360 participants, but due to an earlier postponement due to bad weather forecast and several events that took place in the surrounding area on the same day, in 2024 that number was reduced to 250 participants, which is still an enviable number.
Velika pozornost bila je usmjerena na sigurnost svih sudionika, tako da se ovim putem organiziatori zahvaljuju To the Ministry of Internal Affairs HNŽ/K na besprijekorno obavljenom poslu policijske pratnje, dok su sudionici biciklijade cijelo vrijeme na raspolaganju imali 8 volontera, iskusnih biciklista koji su tijekom bicikliranja pazili na sigurnost svih sudionika i pobrinuli za svaku nepredviđenu situaciju po pitanju servisiranja bicikla ili pružanja prve pomoći, te ih uklanjali u najkraćem roku.
Influencers as increased promotion
The news in 2024 is that the HercegovinaBike Association has turned to cooperation with influencers and digital nomads, who have a very large number of followers on their social networks, and travel the world and present their followers with the destinations they come to.
„We see this as another big step forward in the promotion of cyclotourism in our country. Earlier, we wrote and addressed a large number of digital nomads, and invited them to our country in order to show them that we are good hosts and present our country as a cycling destination. And a large part of them showed interest and scheduled their arrival in their calendars. There is currently a girl from Canada in Mostar who participated in the Ćiro bicycle tour and promoted everything we presented on Sunday. We have been following her posts and the reactions are astounding. In addition to promotion, we as an association learned a lot from her and received useful tips regarding promotion on our social channels, so I can already say that this was a complete hit and we are happy that we started in this direction of promotion", commented Zorić.
