The Association for the Promotion of Cycling "HerzegovinaBike," in cooperation with the Sports Association of the City of Mostar and several cycling clubs from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, is organizing the 13th edition of the Friendship Cycling Caravan Mostar – Vukovar, which will take place from April 28 to May 2, 2025.
Registrations for this year's cycling caravan are now open, and the organizers emphasize that preparations are in full swing. The goal of this event remains unchanged – to connect the twin cities of Mostar and Vukovar through sport, remembrance, and unity.
Five Days, 500 Kilometers – A Ride in Honor of Remembrance
Karavana će započeti u ponedjeljak, 28. travnja 2025., kada će biciklisti krenuti iz Mostara na put dug 500 kilometara do Vukovara. Planirani povratak sudionika je u petak, 2. svibnja, nakon posjeta Borovu selu i prisustvovanja komemoraciji za 12 poginulih hrvatskih redarstvenika.
Cyclists will once again link Mostar and Vukovar, and the caravan itself carries multiple symbolic meanings. In addition to promoting friendship and sport, the event aims to honor all victims in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a special emphasis on the suffering of Vukovar during the war years. Furthermore, this event contributes to connecting the places along the caravan route, strengthening cooperation among cycling communities, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Route and Organization
Karavana će trajati pet dana i sastojat će se od četiri etape koje će ukupno obuhvatiti više od 500 kilometara. Biciklisti će se kretati trasom Mostar – Kiseljak – Žepče – Orašje – Županja – Vukovar, biciklirajući magistralnim i županijskim cestama. Sigurnost sudionika osiguravat će policijska pratnja, dok će logistička podrška uključivati kombi vozilo s hranom, pićem i ostalim potrepštinama.
Who Can Participate?
Priority for participation is given to members of the organizing clubs and athletes. Due to limited capacity, the number of participants is restricted to 30 cyclists. All participants must have a suitable bicycle, and registration includes signing a participation agreement. Minor participants under the age of 18 must have parental/guardian consent, while those under 16 can only participate if accompanied by an adult.
Alongside the cyclists, several support personnel will be present, including two official vehicles providing assistance throughout the route.

All interested participants must register by April 20, 2025, to finalize the participant list and ensure quality organization. It is important to note that registrations may close earlier if all available spots are filled. The number of participants is strictly limited to 30.

Due to the organization, we ask all those who plan to join one of the sections of the marathon to notify the organizer.
IT IS MANDATORY FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS TO WEAR A HELMET, TO COMPLY WITH THE RULES DURING THE MOVEMENT, AND TO BEHAVIOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ACTIVITY ITSELF AND TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN BY THE ORGANIZERS.
PROGRAM: Mostar – Vukovar Cycling Caravan
Throughout the ride, we will be accompanied by a support van for personal belongings, a personal vehicle, and a police escort throughout the entire route.
- Day 1 – Monday, April 28, 2025 (119 km)
08:00 – Gathering in front of the Croatian Home of Duke Stjepan Kosača, group photo, and media statements.
08:45 – Participants will light candles at the memorial for Croatian defenders in front of the Croatian Home of Duke Stjepan Kosača.
09:00 – Departure of the cycling caravan.
17:00 – Turning towards Lepenica, where fellow cyclists from Kiseljak will welcome and escort us.
18:00 – Arrival in Kiseljak, where we will light candles at the memorial site.
- Day 2 – Tuesday, April 29, 2025 (90 km) – Ivan Širić Memorial
09:00 – Departure from Kiseljak towards Žepče (via Busovača and Zenica).
17:00 – Arrival in Žepče, where we will be welcomed by local authorities and fellow cyclists.
18:00 – Laying flowers and lighting candles at the site of the tragic death of young Ivana Širić.
- Day 3 – Wednesday, April 30, 2025 (117 km) – Mladen Ćatić Memorial
09:00 – Departure towards Orašje.
17:00 – Arrival in Orašje, where we will be welcomed by local authorities.
17:30 – Lighting candles at the central memorial in the city park.
18:00 – Departure towards Županja.
18:30 – Arrival in Županja, where we will be welcomed by local authorities and fellow cyclists from Županja.
- Day 4 – Thursday, May 1, 2025 (60 km)
09:00 – Departure towards Vukovar.
12:00 – Arrival in Vukovar, where we will be greeted by the media and local authorities.
12:30 – Departure from Vukovar towards Ovčara.
13:00 – Arrival at Ovčara, where participants will light candles at the memorial dedicated to the 200 wounded individuals and medical staff from Vukovar Hospital, who were executed at this location by Serbian occupying forces on November 20, 1991. A guide will be present at Ovčara to provide further details about the tragic events that took place there.
- Day 5 – Friday, May 2, 2025
09:00 - departure to Borovo selo, where the anniversary of the martyrdom of 12 Croatian police officers will be marked.
09:15 - The participants of the bicycle caravan will lay flowers and light candles on the memorial, and then attend a memorial mass for the fallen police officers.
10:00 a.m. - Joining the procession that will move on foot to the monument to the fallen police officers, where the ceremony will take place
13:00 – Return to Mostar by bus
Important note: When returning, we will put your bikes in the van that will accompany us, and you must sign a statement in which you agree that the van driver can take your bike across the border from Croatia to Bosnia and Herzegovina with your consent. The organizer will draw up a joint statement with your first and last name, registration number, bicycle model and bicycle frame number. This is necessary for customs control, because the van driver will have a van full of bicycles on the way back. The participants of the cycling race return by bus.
WHAT SHOULD THE PARTICIPANT BRING TO THE BIKE RIDE?
- Personal equipment and belongings
- Additional clothing for riding (cycling pants and T-shirts)
- Identity card or passport for crossing the border,
- Helmet (MANDATORY)
- A small backpack or bag for equipment, clothes and personal belongings
- Sports clothes (sweatshirt and tans), for sitting and socializing upon arrival at the place where we will spend the night.

- Each participant rides and is responsible for his own bicycle
- WE RECOMMEND: It is desirable that each participant of the cycling event takes out or makes travel insurance for himself in one of the insurance companies.
WHAT IS INSURED BY THE ORGANIZER
- Two vehicles: Van and accompanying jeep
- Tools and mechanics for possible breakdowns on the caravan participant's bicycle
- First aid kit and medical staff in case of unforeseen/unwanted situations

- Bus (Extraordinary ride) for the return of participants of the cycling event to Mostar.
