Adventure park Pec Mlini

Peć Mlini has become a popular adventure park in western Herzegovina, where visitors can enjoy adrenaline fun, climbing trails, zip lines and goat trails leading to waterfalls, while exploring the huge Ravlića Cave, where people have lived since the Stone Age.

As the etymology of the name Peć Mlini suggests, it is characterized by natural caves and water mills. Peć The mills are located in the abyss below the hill into which the river Vrljika (Matica) flows from the west. This river flows through the entire Imotsko-Bekija field, which is at a slightly higher altitude. It was named Tihaljina after the large cave from which the river rises again, surmounted by steep cliffs. This name continues downstream, all the way to the vicinity of Klobuk, where it joins the mighty Klokun spring. In this place, the river is called Mlade or Mlada and flows as such until it becomes the Trebižat river, named after the town it passes through. At the end, it flows into the river Neretva.

The names of individual sections of this watercourse, which receives power from numerous intermittent sources in the municipality of Posušje, flows through the Imotski Krajina and returns to Bosnia and Herzegovina, differ from place to place.

One of the main attractions is the spectacular Ravlić Cave.

The Trebižat River is the only river in Europe that disappears nine times underground and emerges like a phoenix from the modest Herzegovinian karst, each time getting stronger, together with its tributaries, turning this part of Herzegovina into a fertile, arable plain, a God-given area. for life. It stretches from the source in Tihaljina to the mouth of the Struge, where it flows into the Neretva, in a length of 50 kilometers. Along with this stream, it bears different names (Culuša, Ričina, Brina, Suvaja, Matica, Vrlika, Tihaljina, Mlade, Trebižat). The river originates in an untouched natural area in the southwestern part of the municipality of Grude.

From Peć Mlin to Studenac there were a dozen picturesque mills driven by the river Trebižat, with all their might to turn the millstones used to grind the grain into the finest, fragrant flour.

The local authorities recognized the enormous potential of this tourist destination and improved the area around Peć Mlin through the Adriatic Canyoning project. They built a footpath to the source of the river Tihaljina, built a large and renovated a small wooden bridge, decorated and illuminated the Ravlića cave, installed a zip line that starts from Petnjik hill above Peć Mlin, with two cables 600 meters long. and 400 meters, set up a sports climbing area inside the Ravlića cave, and built a Via Ferrata path along the cliffs of the Cvitanjske stina in a length of about 300 meters.

The "Adriatic Canyoning" project, with a total value of 1,879,251 euros, was financed from the cross-border cooperation program "INTERREG IPA" Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro 2014-2020. The main goal of the project is to strengthen and diversify the tourist offer in the Adriatic hinterland through cross-border access to the canyons of Borak (in the town of Široki Brijeg) and Peć Mlini (in the municipality of Grude) in Bosnia. and Herzegovina, Zrmanja canyon (in the city of Obrovac) and Čikola canyon (in the city of Drniš) in Croatia, and Mount Orjen (in the city of Herceg Novi).

The project aims to enable better management and sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage by creating a model for better management, as well as equipping and promoting the mentioned localities. The leading partner in this project is the City of Široki Brijeg, and the project partners are the Municipality of Grude, the cities of Obrovac and Drniš in Croatia, and the Zadar County Development Agency "ZADRA NOVA" in Croatia, as well as the Herceg Novi Development and Construction Agency "AZIR". in Montenegro. The project started on July 1 and will end on December 31, 2019.

Adventure park Peć Mlini, as part of Herzegovina Adventure Week, which takes place on September 27 and 28, 2019, is open to visitors through the Adriatic Canyoning project. You can find the park's working hours, as well as reservations and announcements for the use of the Zip line and Via Ferrata, on their official website. It is especially exciting to see a large number of visitors from the Herzegovina area who have visited this location in a short time since the opening of the park and enjoyed the facilities offered by this tourist destination.
