Another weekend in the name of cycling and the week that passed in the name of Ćiro cycling, which this weekend was ridden on the section from Hutovo to Neum. The association "HerzegovinaBike" in cooperation with the municipality of Neum and the association "KRON" Neum organized the fourth Ćiro bicycle race in 2024, which was ridden on a section through the Neum hinterland, thus promoting rural tourism and local households.
Despite the bad weather forecast that followed the whole weekend, the courage of the organizers to stay with the announced date and not prolong the event fully paid off. The sunny weather brought together 120 cyclists from around the region, as well as a married couple from the Czech Republic, as well as a couple of cyclists from Austria who enjoyed the good organization, nice fellowship and promoted cycle tourism in our country.
The path through the Neum hinterland is attractive and lively with beautiful landscapes and an asphalted surface, so it is therefore accessible to all cyclists. As we said, this is a very beautiful section, through rural areas, visiting villages on the section from Hutovo to Neum, and at the end of the bike ride, our hosts in Neum gave us a dignified welcome. The association for cultural development of the municipality of Neum together with the city authorities prepared a real welcome from its cyclists, and the bicycle caravan came to the general surprise of numerous tourists and bathers who greeted us with applause and shouts.
“I am especially happy because of the very large number of children who participated in the Ćiro bicycle race. The little ones simply enjoyed cycling with their parents and older friends, and already started asking about the next organization. This gives us the confidence that Ćiro will continue to live, have its participants among the generations that inherit us, and maybe even the organizers of these events", said Toni Zorić president of the HerzegovinaBike association.
“The weather forecast for the weekend was very bad, but we were aware that the weather is very changeable and we played the luck card which turned out to be a good choice. Again, the sun did not disappoint us and we had a very good day for cycling and even for swimming because many of us went to the sea for refreshment at the end of the cycling and lunch", Zorić added.
The next Ćiro bicycle race that awaits us is on the section from Trebinje to Bileća, and the scheduled date of the event is August 11, 2024. Find more information at HERE (link).
